“The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God’…’I am the Lord’s servant,’ Mary answered. ‘May it be to me as you have said.’ Then the angel left her.” (Luke 1:35-38)

Christmas isn’t too far away, it’s coming…are you ready? Are there things still left on the “to do” list? Still presents yet to be bought? Still cookies left to be made? Still decorations waiting to be put up? Still preparations that need to be made?

With so many things on our minds it can be easy to forget HOW to be ready for Jesus’ coming. How are we ready?

How was Mary ready? Out of the blue God sent His angel to her, God sent a message to her, God showed His favor to her, God the Holy Spirit would conceive the child within her, God was bringing her Savior into the world. Notice that she wasn’t busy doing this or wanting that or making this…she was simply receiving whatever God was giving her.

That’s how you’re ready for Christmas too. Ready to receive all that God wants to give you in that manger: Himself, your Savior Jesus, the One who comes to bring you life eternal. So, receive Him; “may it be to me as you have said.”

Thankfully receiving God’s grace in Jesus, just like you,
