Sunday Announcements

Sunday, October 15th, 2017

Sunday, October 15 there will be a congregational open forum between the services. The voters meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m.

This week Wednesday (October 18) will be the second in our parenting workshop series. It is a video and discussion on Shepherding a Child’s Heart. All parents welcome, even if you didn’t make it last month. Child care will be provided.

An Interactive Faith online Bible study began last Wednesday, and runs every Wednesday through Nov. 8. The study will stream live twice each Wednesday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. (central). The online Bible studies are a great opportunity to get together as a group or to participate individually in a synod-wide Bible study. The study is titled “Luther’s Lasting Impact,” and will be led by Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Professor Joel Otto. To join the study, visit:

On October 22 we will have a “Throwback” Sunday and worship as Lutherans did many years ago using an order of worship from an old hymnal. There will be different wording (old English style). As we worship, picture faithful Christians from years back as they worshipped our same Lord and Savior.

The showing of the new Martin Luther movie at the Bemidji theater has been rescheduled (again!) to Monday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m. Mark your calendars! (We’ve experienced a number of delays in working with the company who arranges the showing– we apologize for the confusion on the dates!)

Boxtops will be submitted at the end of the month. Please bring your Boxtops in by October 15 and drop them off in the labeled drawers in the cabinet in the fellowship hall. This is a great way to support our Christian day school!

St. Mark’s Lutheran School is participating in two more label programs! In addition to the Boxtops and Our Family UPC labels, you can also clip and save Tyson Project A+ labels found on frozen Tyson chicken products and Loaves 4 Learning labels found on Country Hearth and Village Hearth items. Drop off your labels anytime in the labeled drawers in the fellowship hall cabinet. The Tyson labels are worth 24 cents each, and the Loaves 4 Learning labels are worth 5 cents each, with the money going to the School Special Project Fund. If you have any questions about the label programs, see Erin Riess.

We would like to invite any musicians, from beginner to advanced, to prepare a piece of music and be part of special pre-service music for Reformation Sunday, November 5. Contact Kyle ( or Erin ( Riess if you have any interest or questions. Please let us know if you prefer to play for early or late service, and how many minutes your piece will take. We can also help you with music selection if needed.

A new email alias has been created for announcements. It is:

Christian Family Solutions is our Synod’s counseling agency. Pastor Nitz is available for free pastoral counseling service whenever you or someone you know is in need. But if you or someone you know needs professional Christian counseling, Christian Family Solutions can provide it. They offer something called “Telehealth” coverage which enables you to meet with a counselor via the internet over a video chat. The cost is $75 per session. If you are unable to pay the cost for professional counseling, please speak with Pastor Nitz who can arrange for counseling through our congregation’s Member Assistance Program through the church. More information is available on the bulletin board.

Time of Grace ministry hosted by Pastor Mark Jeske (WELS) is available in our area at 6:30 a.m. every Sunday morning on Fox 9 KMSP.

Did you know that we collect Box Tops, Labels for Education, Our Family UPC labels and printer ink cartridges? Please drop them off in the labeled drawers in the cabinet in the fellowship hall. This is a great way to support our Christian day school!
