Sunday Announcements

Sunday, December 11th, 2017

Anyone interested in going Christmas caroling should meet at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon at church. We will return to church afterwards for pizza.

Would you like to donate some of your time for this service? St Mark’s is on the schedule to deliver meals for 5 days in December, the 11th through the 15th. Please see sign up sheet or contact Pat or Gary Berget if you have any questions.

The second midweek Advent service will be Wednesday, December 13 at 7:00 p.m. There will be a soup and sandwich supper beginning at 5:45 p.m. Please bring a dish to pass.

Take note—the monthly meeting night at church will be this Thursday, December 14 (pushed back from last week due to the Luther movie).

All women of the congregation are invited to attend the annual Ladies Guild Christmas Party this Friday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Come and focus your hearts on Jesus, the babe born in Bethlehem, while enjoying Christian fellowship with other women. Bring a snack to share if you wish. Friends are welcome!

The next opportunity to purchase SCRIP gift cards will be January 1.  There will not be an order on December 11, as previously announced. If you have any questions, please contact Marjorie Gildersleeve or Nathan Bitter.

The Wymans will take the kids (ages 5 and up) to the movie ”Ferdinand” on Sunday, December 17th. We don’t have the time yet but will keep you posted. Please sign up in the narthex. Children should be dropped off and picked up at the theater. If your child wants a snack, please send money for that. If you have any questions, please contact Sherry at 218-556-0057. Link to Bemidji CEC Theater: The movie is based on the childhood book “Ferdinand the Bull” written in 1938.  After Ferdinand, a bull with a big heart, is mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure.

Since Christmas is the celebration of our Lord’s birth, we have compiled a list of gifts that could be given to help carry out His work here at St. Mark’s. Please wrap the gift and place it under the tree in front of church. The gifts will be opened after the Christmas Day service by the children who are in attendance. If you are able to give one or more of the gifts listed, we ask that you mark the posted master list on the bulletin board in the narthex to avoid duplication of gifts. If you have any questions, please talk to Nathan Bitter.

We are collecting your used Meditations and Forward in Christ magazines. These are given to WELS prison ministry and sent to inmates all over the country. Only these two devotional materials are accepted. Please place them in the top drawer next to the church mailboxes.  See Judy Krenz if you have any questions.

All musicians are invited to prepare a piece of Christmas music to play for preservice on Christmas Eve. We would especially like to encourage the children to participate in this opportunity before the Children’s Service on Christmas Eve morning. Please indicate your intent on the sign-up sheet in the narthex. If you have questions or would like help finding music, please see Kyle or Erin Riess.
