Sunday Announcements

Sunday, November 18th, 2018

St. Mark’s will host our annual Thanksgiving dinner today after second service. Everyone is welcome! We will have an opportunity to share our blessings with those in need through a freewill offering for WELS Christian Aid & Relief.

There will be no Women’s Bible Class on Wednesday, November 21, the day before Thanksgiving.

Please plan to join us after second service next Sunday, November 25 as we put up the Christmas decorations.

All ladies of the congregation are invited to a baby shower for Joy Holderbecker and baby girl Tessa Belle. The shower will be held Sunday, December 2 after second service in the fellowship hall. If you wish to contribute to a group gift, please give money to Shelly Webb by Tuesday, November 27.

Every year, Sherry and Brett Wyman take the Sunday School age children to a movie at Christmas time to give the parents a little break. We take care of the cost of the movie but doesn’t include snacks—kids are on their own for that. We have picked a date, but of course we won’t know what movie is playing yet, or the time of the matinee. But please mark your calendar for Sunday, December 9th as the date the Wymans will take the kids for a couple hours so the parents can have a little shopping or quiet time. More details to follow.

Mark your calendar for the Ladies’ Christmas Party on Thursday, December 13 at 7 p.m. Join us for Christian fellowship and meditation on the Christmas story.

The Children’s Christmas Service will be held Sunday, December 23rd at 9 a.m. Practices will be held on Saturday mornings December 1, 8, 15, and 22 from
9-11 a.m. In your mailboxes is a paper about this and some memory work for them to start working on. Parents please watch out for this and start working on the songs. If your child is not going to be at the service on December 23 or attend most of the practices please let their teacher or Donna Schroeder know as soon as possible so we can make plans. ***We are also collecting a Mission Offering during Advent. On November 25 we will be passing out little stockings for the offerings to be put in. We will be collecting them on December 23 at the Children’s Service.

LUTHER MOVIE… “A Return To Grace” DVD
The Evangelism Committee would like to have some extra copies of the Luther Movie DVD.  Many SMLC members got copies last year when we promoted the movie. If any member would like to “recycle” their copy for use by the Evangelism Committee, it would be appreciated.  Please place the DVD in Ken Grob’s or Dave Pfeiffer’s mail box.  Thanks, this will save the expense of ordering more copies.

This Advent season as a part of the C18 materials, our synod will make daily family devotions available online. These devotional materials will involve utilizing an Advent wreath. If your family does not have one, you might consider purchasing one in the coming weeks to have it ready at the start of Advent. Or maybe you have a wreath, but need some new candles. Northwestern Publishing House has these items available. (
