“[Jesus] replied…’In any case, I must keep going today and tomorrow and the next day – for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!'” (Luke 13:33)

How determined are you? I suppose our level of determination for someone or something is connected with our passion or love for that thing which we are determined. Time and again we hear about athletes who overcome some great obstacle through determination and hard work. Their love of the sport and doing their very best makes them determined.
But no determination can beat the determination we hear in this verse. Jesus said, “I must keep going.” He was determined, driven, decided to do something. And what was it? He hints at it: “no prophet can die outside of Jerusalem.” In other words, He knows. He knows exactly where He’s headed: a cross, a bitter death for the sins of all. And…He’s determined.
Jesus was so determined to save you, to rescue you, to forgive you that He wouldn’t let Herod, the Pharisees, or anyone stop Him. Why? Because He has that much passion and love for you!
It’s Jesus’ determination that empowers us to live in determination: Live, determined to be the child of God that He’s made you to be! Live, determined to be the spouse, the child, the parent, the employee, the friend, the church member, that God has made you to be! Why? Because your Savior was determined to death for you!
Thankful for Jesus’ determination for me, just like you,
pastor
