“Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.  With it he touched my mouth and said, ‘See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.’  Then I heard the voice of the LORD saying, ‘Whom shall I send?  And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I.  Send me!'” (Isaiah 6:6-8)

“Guess what!  Guess what!  You won’t believe what happened to me!  This is great!  This is awesome!!”

What do you do with good news?  Keep it to yourself?  Keep it a secret?

No.  Good news is something you can’t help but share!  Well, what about the greatest news ever?  The prophet Isaiah had seen the Lord Almighty, the King of all, the holy and perfect God.  And who was he?  A sinful human being with unclean lips.  The sight of God made him cry out in despair, “I’m ruined!”  He had no right to stand in God’s holy presence.

The truth is, you and I don’t either.  How much have we used our lips to speak unkind things, hurt others?  How much have we failed to praise God, pray to Him, tell others about Him?  And that’s just our lips!  We don’t have a right to stand before God either.

But what did God do?  Atoned for sin.  Took guilt away.  Sent His Son to be the sacrifice for the sins of all, your sins, my sins, all sins.  And that’s…GREAT NEWS!  That means eternal life is yours!  That means God is your Heavenly Father!  That means God loves you tremendously more than you can imagine!  That means your life has purpose and meaning!

And…what do we do with good news again?  We share it!  Like Isaiah, see your sin, see your Savior, and see your mission to share the love of God in Christ Jesus!

Living in grace, just like you,
