Pastor’s Blog during End Times:
“But in those days, following that distress, ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies be shaken.'” (Mark 13:24-25)
Sounds a bit crazy, huh? The sun stops shining, the moon doesn’t give light any more, the stars fall from the sky??!! Perhaps one of the most dependable things that we humans can think of in our world is the sun. It’s just there, it keeps on shining, it has been for thousands of years. Can you imagine the sun being turned off?
One day it will. On the Last Day God’s going to flip the light switch on the sun. That tells us something about the world we live in…it’s not going to last. Knowing that makes us evaluate our lives. What do I put my hope in? In what do I sink the anchor for my life in? My wealth, possessions, job, health, home, nation, all are good things…but they won’t last.
The Last Day helps us put a proper perspective on things. What will truly last? What will not change no matter what? What’s going to be around on the Last Day? Jesus. Jesus will return with all glory and power and bring eternal salvation for His people.
Knowing that helps me have a proper perspective on things in life. What’s most important? Where do I sink my anchor for life? Sink it in Jesus. He is your Savior. Sink it deeper in Him by hearing His Word and receiving His sacraments.
There is only one hope when the sun stops and the sky falls, that’s Jesus. And He happens to be your dear Lord and Savior!
Trusting in Jesus in a world of change and decay, just like you,
